Lebanese takeout that’s been on Bristol’s Park Row for many years has expanded.
The new branch is on 21 Nelson street, Bristol. I love the Cedar express on Park Row. I remember I use to go to eat there all the time during my college years. They have a Lebanese/middle eastern menu.
When I noticed the new place on 21 Nelson street, I immediately went in to ask if I can be the first person to review the food and check the consistency to their famous Park row takeaway. Amer, who manages the place, gave me the opportunity to review the food.
What do they serve
Cedar Express serves up small and large hot & cold mezzes, grill plates, sandwiches, and the best shawarma. The lamb and chicken shawarma meat are marinated overnight, and the lamb is stacked, layer upon layer with exotic Lebanese spices making the lamb and chicken tender, soft and leaving you with a nice taste in your mouth. Every meal is cooked to order, making the flavours fresh and tasty.
It’s a modern takeaway, relaxed with casual dining area.
A place you can visit when you’re in town after a long’s day shopping or on your work lunch. It’s great for singletons, couple and it’s family friendly.
I ordered the following:
Chicken Shawarma and Lamb shawarma which comes with chips and a drink.
The Chicken and Lamb Shawarma come with no spice (so ask for your preferred spice before you order) I opted for medium hot. The chicken Shawarma was soft, tasted fresh, juicy and it included hummus, fresh gherkins, that gave it a tang. The hummus gave it a light refreshing taste.
The Lamb Shawarma, I been told it was marinated over 24 hours, stacked individually with each layer, so not like your everyday kebab/corner shop Shawarma. I could definitely taste the difference. The meat was so juicy and tender, the hummus gave it light texture on the mouth and fresh gherkins gave it a tang, with the spice and juices flowing in the wrap, it was delicious I could eat more.
So I would recommend the Lamb Shawarma and get them to spice it up before you order if that’s what you prefer. Do ask for your preference.
In my opinion, the food is great, the price is very cheap for the menu and its location. I would certainly say it’s worth the visit. Plus they have great opening offers in store.
Personally, at the end of the day, the taste of the food is what matters the most.
- Lamb Shawarma
- Shish Kafta
- Hallomi wraps
- Lamb and Chicken Shawarma wraps
Would I visit again? Yes, on casual lunch and if I’m in town shopping. The Best time to visit is early morning/lunch between 11am-1pm after that it does get busy during lunch. Evenings are not busy so perfect to enjoy your food in peace.
